Breeding services
The Practice’s veterinary surgeons can provide a full range of reproduction services to individual breeders and stud farms.
We can provide routine and emergency care of foals, mares and stallions. We have stocks for scanning at the Weipers Centre, portable scanner and insemination equipment for Chilled and Frozen AI. Mares can be brought in to be scanned or scanned in the field.
Where more intensive or involved care is necessary, we have the expertise of the specialists in the hospital. At the hospital we can provide specialized reproductive services including surgery and intensive medical care. Our medical clinicans are experienced in neonatology and neonatal foal intensive care.

Practice Services
Before a mare is bred, it is a good idea to examine her reproductive tract to confirm that she is cycling and anticipate any potential breeding challenges.
Herpes abortion vaccinations are available again and we recommend vaccination at 5, 7 and 9 months of pregnancy.
Mares may become uncomfortable as they become close to term. We are able to monitor placental and foetal health, as well as support the mare to have a successful foaling.
Most stallions will need swabbed to confirm the absence of infectious venereal infections.
